Rundown: Another excuse for Chris to talk to his favorite living critic, Jeff Bond and do a deep dive into his new book, The Art of Star Trek: The Kelvin Timeline. Or at least that’s where this started. When Seth McFarland revealed Jeff’s book on McFarland new show, The Oroville, I thought I’d pepper in a few questions. Then Jeff revealed he wrote a very thoughtful piece for the 40th anniversary Vinyl Record Edition of John Williams’ Star Wars score. That’s out now as well. Then there are his liner notes for the new edition of Burt Bacharach’s 1960s James Bond parody Casino Royale soundtrack. That’s famous for The Look of Love.

But we start with the nutty Star Trek/Quentin Tarantino news...

Rundown: We talk about Francis McDormand's new movie, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and possibly the larger subject of promising storytellers aping the style of other successful storytellers. Then we bring on best friend of the show Peter Brown, Associate Editor of Assignment X for a mini segment of Dorking Out About Trailers in light of this week’s The Avengers: Infinity War trailer breading every trailer record ever. We talk about the trailer, the movie and what besides silver bullets can stop Disney’s march toward world domination.

Topic 1: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

When the local police fail to solve the case of her daughter’s rape and murder, Mildred Hayes (played by France McDormand) rents three billboards on the outside of town with a message directed at the police chief, William Willoughby (played by Woody Harrelson). "Raped while dying", "And still no arrests", and "How come, Chief Willoughby?"

Sam Rockwell plays one of Willoughby’s fellow officers. He’s a racist hothead mama’s boy who just makes things worse. Written and directed by Martin McDonagh, THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI is getting award show buzz with nominations for Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell’s performances from the Los Angeles Film Critics, Independent Spirit Awards and the British Independent Film Awards.

Topic 2: Dorking Out About the Avengers: Infinity War Trailer with Peter Brown

We take a deep dive into all things MCU with a look at the massive smash the Avengers: Infinity War has become. Plus, we predict what we think will happen when the movie finally hits the big screen.
